A COURT has dismissed a wilful murder charge against a police reservist because the prosecution may use him as a State witness.
Jack A’Aron had been accused of killing a man at the Sports Inn Night club in Port Moresby last February.
Waigani Committal Court Magistrate Cosmas Bidar ordered A’Aron’s release after the arresting officer Junior Waka submitted to court a statement that there were lack of evidence to implicate him.
A’Aron, 33, from Tonu village in Siwai, Bougainville, and co-accused Stanley Kilip, 29, from Tiki village, Mul Baiyer in Western Highlands, were charged with the murder of Robert Giwar on Feb 7.
Bidar told the court that police wanted to withdraw the case against A’Aron who they would use as a witness.
He said there was a letter from police confirming the withdrawal of the case.
Bidar said the main reason was that the evidence might not be sufficient to pursue the charge.
