COMMUNITY auxiliary police at Boikin along the west coast of Wewak, have confiscated quantities of dangerous drug-marijuana at Kurupie village on Monday.
Head of Boikin Pramak auxiliary station, Henry Takombe, said yesterday that police uncovered fresh marijuana plants with two kilograms of dried marijuana in a house at the village but the suspect managed to escape before police arrived.
Mr Takombe said the suspect was known to police and would be arrested by police anytime this week.
Meanwhile, Mr Takombe called on the National Government to station a police mobile unit in East Sepik to help them curb lawlessness in Wewak, Vanimo and along the Sepik and Wewak/ Vanimo Highways.
Mr Takombe said with the road linking Wewak to Vanimo and Jayapura, criminal activities were likely to rise especially on the highways and a mobile unit should
immediately be stationed in Wewak to deal with any law breakers.
