Police hunt for kill suspects
The National, Monday July 13th, 2015
POLICE are looking for three public servants, a policeman and gunmen implicated in the killing of four brothers at Aipus station in Wabag on June 5.
Wabag police station Commander Epenas Nili told The National that the man who planned the killing of the two Ekeram brothers and their two cousins had surrendered to police. Nili said neighbouring tribes were working with the police to track down the remaining suspects.
“Police have set up informants in the villages and we have rewards for informants who locate any of those suspects,” Nili said.
He said the man who planned it surrendered to police after the villagers surrounded him in the forest. Two hired gunmen have been arrested. “I have sent police wide and far to hunt down the suspects,” he said.
The elder brother of the Ekeram brothers recommended during the funeral at Aipus village on June 27 that the provincial executive council must not entertain any compensation payment. The family also wants police to prosecute the gunmen hired by tribes and clans.
“All we want is peace and we want to be known as the clan that set the precedent in Enga for allowing the law to settle all tribal matters.,” Ekeram said.
