Police invite public to lodge complaints
The National, Friday February 12th, 2016
PEOPLE who have complaints against police brutality and have evidence to support their complaints must write to the police headquarters for investigations, an official says.
Officer-in-charge of the internal investigation unit at the Police headquarter Charles Winvan said the commissioner was clamping down on rogue officers and people who had a complaint police brutality should compile their evidence and write to the unit for investigation.
“We want to bring back public confidence into the force and we want people to see that we are taking action and not just talking,” Winvan said.
“If the officers are found guilty through the internal investigations, they will be referred to the open courts to face justice and be charged criminally for their offences.
“We are going to suspend them and even terminate them from the force based on charges laid against them. They do not deserve to be in the constabulary and they must go out and find job somewhere.”
Meanwhile, the director of traffic operations Joseph Joe warned police and traffic officers to be honest in cpmpiling their reports.
“There are some rogue officers colluding and coming up with fabricated accidents reports and collaborating with certain groups and individuals to defraud the state and the people of this country,” Joe said.
