Police move in after man killed in revenge attack

Police reinforcement have been deployed after a man from Munum, in Huon Gulf, was killed in a revenge attack.
The killing on Tuesday followed the death of a Kabwum man at Munum in Wampar local level government area, a week ago, police said.
Police believe the Munum man was killed by relatives of the man from Kabwum who was killed earlier.
Morobe provincial police commander Alex N’Drasal has appealed to leaders of both communties to surrender the suspects in both killings for questioning.
N’Drasal said that after the killing of the Kabwum man a week ago, a suspect was apprehended and detained in police custody.
He said the conflcit was an ongoing issue and he called on those who committed the crime to turn themselves in.
Two police units were deployed to contain the situation
Wampar local level government council manager Joe Paru told The National that the incident occurred after the third State of Origin game on Wednesday last week.
The relatives of the deceased demanded K25,000 and three pigs for compensation within three days and that the suspects be handed over to police.
Paru said the suspects were never surrendered and the compensation demand was never met.
