Police must learn about respect

IT is distressing to read about the lack of discipline among our police officers.
My question is: What did they learn at the Bomana Police College?
Did they learn to steal from the public and take bribes?
Did they learn to shoot innocent people?
Did they learn to get drunk and terrorise the people?
If they were taught about discipline, the first thing they would learned would be “respect”; respect yourself and respect others.
If they have the respect, they would have brushed their teeth, polished their shoes, shaved and ironed their uniforms.
In the past, I have seen police officers were taught to respect themselves and respect others.
They gave priority to their work and the way they dress.
In return, the public gave them the respect.
Today, it is a disgrace and a shame to see some of our officers with betelnut stains on their uniforms, on the vehicles, and some even have dreadlocks.
The police commissioner has been complaining about the lack of resource to fund the police force.
What resource is he talking about?
Do you need millions of kina to learn how to respect yourself?
