A SPECIAL police operation in the Angoram district of East Sepik has netted 44 hardcore criminals wanted by police for a string of serious offences including rape, robbery, murder and the recent break-in at the Angoram police station.
Provincial commander Vincent Pokas said a high- powered firearm, home-made guns and other weapons were surrendered to police during a gathering at Angoram on Wednesday.
Two former soldiers from Tambunum village surrendered an AK47 rifle which they brought over after the Bougainville operation. Others handed over two factory-made air guns, home-made pistols and stapler guns.
Police also arrested and charged a couple, who are elementary teachers, this week for producing pornographic pictures for their own viewing.
