A MT Hagen-based senior police officer, who was allegedly on the run for almost a year after a female colleague accused him of trying to sexually attack her, finally appeared in court yesterday.
Allan Kepas, who was attached to the Mt Hagen public safety division, was charged with sexual assault on the constable.
He appeared in the Mt Hagen district court yesterday for mention.
The complainant reported the matter to police and investigations were carried out.
But the suspect never turned up for the interviews, giving various excuses for his absence.
Police sought the court’s assistance and was granted a warrant of arrest.
Kepas finally turned up at the District Court house and one of his bail conditions says he has to report to the arresting officer every Wednesday at the police station.
His is also not to travel out of Western Highlands until the investigation is finished and is to keep away from state witnesses.
