FOUR policemen from Enga who appeared on Facebook while drinking beer have been detained.
Their section commander Sgt Danny Makau, who was not drinking, was suspended for 21 days and replaced by new commander Sgt Tom Makai for allegedly failing to supervise his men and allowing them to drink in a border police vehicle.
The policemen manning the Tomba-Enga police checkpoint are in the Wabag police cell.
They were allegedly drinking beer last Wednesday and drew all sorts of criticism from the public about police in the province after pictures of them drinking were published on Facebook.
Enga police commander acting Supt Epenes Nili said the four were charged with drinking alcohol in public while on duty.
He said they would be bailed for K2,000 each.
“I will not tolerate any policeman or woman in the province drinking alcohol in public or in a police vehicle,” Nili said.
