Police officers must respect one another

IT is not good to hear law-enforcing agencies behaving disrespectfully towards other members of the force.

When you see one group of policemen acting in defiance against another group, it is quite dangerous as the effects of such can only deteriorate the lawless situation in the country.

How much time do we have for combating the law and order situation and how much time do we also have for in-house issues within the force?

Such divisions only bring about much fear within the civil society as there is a growing sense of vulnerability in the security safety net in this country.

The present saga with the police commissioner and the other members of the police force is a classic example of how deep the cause of division is.

When the force is divided, it signals a risky trend for policing.

Unless everyone in our communities is satisfied with the police protection, there is no guarantee either.

Every pose of security threat that confronts us in our towns and villages sends a warning for those who took the oath to uphold the law and provide protection.

United we stand and divided we fall.

So which side do we want to be on?
