Police officers undergo leadership training

ANOTHER 32 senior police officers are undergoing the UK-Pacific leadership training programme which started in Port Moresby yesterday.
The programme, launched last May, would also see 30 cadet officers graduating soon.
Trainers Mike Brown and Paul Morisetti from the UK College of Policing were conducting the training for two weeks in Port Moresby and Lae.
Brown told The National that the training was for senior officers on theoretical contact of leadership and addressing of different kinds of approaches.
“We will help them to equip themselves on how to use different leadership approaches, what they might be missing and how they can enhance their leadership style,” he said.
“The training programme will help them understand policing by content, policing with community, for community and understanding human rights principles.”
Brown said they were happy to run the programme again this year.
“We will also be going to Lae to conduct the training in the Northern region.”
