Police on the lookout for several suspects

ASSAULT, rape, murder, kidnapping and a runaway couple have kept police in several of the country’s major cities and towns busy as they try to look for their suspects.
Police in the National Capital District are investigating a serious assault on a woman.
The offender, from Pindiu in the hinterlands of Finschhafen, Morobe, attacked his girlfriend at Gordon.
It was reported to police that the suspect flew into Port Moresby to meet his girlfriend.
They argued and the suspect allegedly used a pocket knife to attack his girlfriend, causing injuries to her chest, abdomen and back.
The suspect is believed to have already returned to Lae.
In Lae, police are investigating the rape and murder of a woman from Kerowagi, Chimbu.
The body was found dumped at the old airport.
It was alleged that the victim was taken to Lae from home by two of her in-laws in Tari.
The body was later recovered and placed at Angau Memorial Hospital morgue in Lae.
Police are hunting for two suspects.
In Central, a couple has gone into hiding after the wife allegedly stabbed and killed one of their relatives with a pocket knife at Morata 3 during an argument over alcohol on July 28.
The relatives of the deceased retaliated and burned one of the couple’s houses. Five suspects were detained and questioned.
In Madang, police have arrested and charged a man in connection with the kidnapping of a woman.
The woman was abducted and kept at a house for eight days before she escaped and reported to police.
It was alleged that the suspect lured her into his friend’s house in Madang and locked her in.
And in Western Highlands, police are investigating the rape of a six-year-old girl at a coffee garden at Muglamp, near Mt Hagen.
