POLICE are investigating the dawn attack on three men sleeping in a bush in the Star Mountains, Western, during a hunting trip.

Provincial police commander Insp Silva Sika said the men were attacked at around 3am on Friday and suffered injuries to their legs.

They had stopped to camp for the night after the day’s hunting.

Sika said two of the men were from Tari, in Southern Highlands, and married to women from Finalbin village in the Star Mountains.

They went out hunting with their brother- in-law, Thomas Bolok.

The three suffered injuries from arrows. Earlier on Thursday, they told police that they had an argument with a group of hunters from Telefomin, in West Sepik, they had met in the bush.
