Police probe burning of buildings

POLICE suspect the burning down of Kimbe Primary School buildings last week was the work of arsonists.
“There is no lead so far but investigators are on the case and are working round the clock to establish the truth,” Commander Chief Inspector John Tara said.
“We are also not sure whether the incident is related to General Election 2022 (GE22) or other issues.
“There is always ethnic clash amongst settlers in section 10 or maybe it is a GE22-related matter,” he added.
Tara said it was difficult to establish the cause of the matter at the moment and appealed to settlers to help the police with information on the burning.
Tara said the burning down of school properties, such as classrooms, was becoming common in the New Guinea Islands region.
