Police probe claims
The National, Monday February 16th, 2015
EASTERN Highlands provincial police commander Superintendent John Kale has ordered an investigation into an allegation of sexual harassment against the wife of a man in police custody.
He was responding to a Letter to the Editor article on February 5 which alleged that policemen had asked the wife of a man they were holding in custody for a sexual favour.
The wife had gone to the station to ask for the release of her husband.
“I and the PPC are not aware of the allegation. I directed an investigation into the allegation and any policeman found to have been involved will be suspended and dealt with,” Kale said.
He said if the allegation by the wife was false, she and her husband would be questioned.
Kale said the alleged incident happened in the middle of last year, which he should have been told about.
He said no one was above the law, including police officers.
