Police prosecutors need training

Letters

SOME important cases and a murder case were thrown out of court as a result of poor collection of evidence and witness statements by police prosecutors.
It seems police prosecutors are not trained well enough in dealing with these matters in terms of collecting sufficient information to present at court.
Thus, most important court cases are thrown out.
The Department of Police has to implement graduate development programmes and recruit and train law and psychologist graduates so they can carry out their duties.
This will improve prosecution matters and other disciplinary matters in the police force and department.

  • Police, arresting Officers and investigators are to be blamed for this as well. They are the ones who are compiling all the evidence neccessary for the courts

  • maybe its time the courts starts penalising these incompetent and under-performing police prosecutors and investigators for their incompetence or deliberate slackness and send them off to serve jail time so it sends a message home to the other incompetent/under-performing prosecutors/investigators to pull up their game. Otherwise we will continue to see cases thrown out because of police slackness and incompetence.
