POLICE uprooted over 320 marijuana plants at Gamar village, in Chimbu, during a combined operation.
The joint operation was done by Kerowagi district police and Chimbu Weeding Grass special police operation last Thursday and led by Detective Yatefa Welis.
Police Commander Chief Inspector Lawrence Israel said the main suspect and cultivator, Nalkane Moky Umbo, 27, was arrested and charged. “I thank my policemen for doing a fantastic job in uprooting the marijuana plants and arresting the grower. This will discourage others from cultivating and selling drugs,” he said. Israel said police were tipped off. He said they uprooted more marijuana plants from gardens belonging to other villagers. “I call on marijuana growers, traders, buyers and users to stop because it has negative effect,” Israel said.
