Police recapture suspect

POLICE in Manus have recaptured a suspect who fled from the police cells and charged his wife with harbouring a suspect.
Acting provincial police commander Senior Inspector David Yapu said that the escapee, Bill Paran , 48 and of Tingou in Tetidu LLG, Lorengau, was charged with sexual penetration, incest and bribery.
He escaped from the police cell on July 3 and was recaptured on Friday.
The escaping charge was added to Paran’s list.
Yapu said Paran and two others broke out from the cells by using a bolt cutter to cut the lock.
He has directed an investigation to determine how the bolt cutter was smuggled into the cells.
Yapu said Police were tipped off and  recaptured Paran at the Lorengau General Hospital.
He thanked the public for providing such information.
He also appealed to the other escapees from CS Lorengau to surrender to prevent the police from using force. The escapees are Wendol Agua, Walter Ted, both of Likum village, Lorengau, and charged with wilful murder, and Job Samuel, of Bowat village, Lorengau, serving 14 months for incest.
