A 19-YEAR-OLD Papua New Guinean woman is believed to have been trafficked to Fujian in China, where she has been treated as a slave for the past two years.
A police report was lodged by her family and police have informed Immigration and Foreign Affairs Departments to help locate and rescue the woman.
According to the police report lodged by family members, the woman was tricked to go to China with her employers on Sept 29, 2019, to teach their children English and Tok Pisin, and that she would be paid K350 fortnightly.
It was alleged that she was also told that she would attend Mandarin classes while in Fujian. Before leaving for Fujian, the woman worked as a shop assistant owned by a Chinese national in Port Moresby and was also paid K350 fortnightly.
It was allerged that the woman was advised that she would not receive her salary while in Fujian but her family would collect it at the shop in Port Moresby.
Last July 27, she informed her family in Port Moresby that she was being treated like a slave, doing house chores from 5am to midnight everyday.
She told her family that her employer’s family did not keep their word and she wanted to return home.
Her worried family members then lodged a report with the police transnational crime unit.

  • Hi, did she tell her parents where she is in Fuzhou? I am in Fujian province. If she has any contact that would be easy to locate her
