Police report suicide case in Milne Bay

 POLICE in Milne Bay have reported a suicide.

The deceased, from Kainako Village, Alotau district, on the outskirts of Alotau town, was found in her bedroom last Sunday.

Provincial police commander Joseph Morehari said the young woman was found by relatives, who reported the matter a short while later.

 “After reporting the matter to police the relatives of the deceased then brought her body to the Alotau General Hospital where an autopsy was conducted,” Chief Supt Morehari said.

“There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding her death and police are waiting for the coroner’s report to be compiled before further investigations continue,” he said.

“Morehari said operations in the province for the local level government elections were progressing well.

“I have instructed and beefed up my officers to every outlying island polling places of the province, including islands, and the mainland to ensure that security is maintained during polling.”
