Police robbery

Letters

WE were robbed by Goroka police officers on the road near Warabung on Thursday.
The officers demanded K20 from us because our back-seat passengers were not wearing their seat belt.
The officers were obviously drunk had had blood-shot eyes.
I asked for a receipt for the on-the-spot fine and the officer swore at me and said: “You obstructing justice, you man nothing. I am the police headman.”
He threatened to arrest me.
He said he would nail me with a six-inch nail and kill me. I am a Catholic priest.
There was another Goroka police car there but the officers in it did nothing.
The police officers asked for another K20. They took K40 from us.
This happened at the Chimbu boarder.
I reported the incident to Goroka police, and the police officer there told me not to pressure me because if I did he would do nothing about the complaint.
Some of the listed emergency phone numbers work and those that did ring were not answered.
Please stop this injustice.
