AT least 10 police stations and houses will be rebuilt or renovated in provinces this year, assistance commissioner of the police logistics division Tony Duwang says.
Duwang said the refurbishment of old police cells and construction of new barracks in provinces under the public infrastructure project were needed. He said 21 projects would cost K35 million in the 2019 budget. The implementation phase had started with funds ready for two houses for East New Britain divisional commander and police commander at Kinabot and Redscar police stations along Napanapa, outside Port Moresby.
“There is a need for a police station along that area for police presence now that crimes are increasing along the villages.” Building or refurbishment will take place at the Boroko station, Alotau, Madang, Angoram, Yangoru, Makham and Bulolo in Morobe.
Ten City police station in Lae, Jiwaka police commander’s house, Komo Mobile Barracks and Banz station in Jiwaka.
