POLICE have thanked the East New Britain provincial government for its support and assistance to the force.
Provincial police commander Sylvester Kalaut said since he arrived in 2010, he had seen great logistical support from the provincial administration.
He said the continuous support from the administration  indicated they wanted the force to ensure that ENB  continued to remain a safe and peaceful province to live in.
“This is an area where the provincial government need to invest in so that the people will continue to enjoy a peaceful and safe ENB,” he said.
It complements the strategic plan of ENB to maintain a safe society.
“In order to build a safe society we need to support our law and order enforcement agencies to make ENB safe for everyone.
“As it is, ENB is the safest place in the country and we want to maintain that for the people in the province and for those in other provinces who come to visit.”
He admitted however that minor criminal cases occurred.
“Wherever people live, they are bound to go against the law,” Kalaut said.
Two officers from Manus will join the ENB command because of the poor accommodation in Manus.
The new recruits sent to ENB last year will soon be assigned to the four districts after their probationary period.
