POLICE will investigate the Kandep by-election violence and killings,
Assistant Police Commissioner and Highlands divisional police commander Simon Kauba said yesterday.
ACP Kauba said police would arrest the people involved in the two killings and other criminal activities in the district.
He appealed to leaders in the district to cooperate with the police and provide a conducive environment for his men to move in and investigate the election-related violence.
He said without the cooperation of the leaders, their job would be more difficult.
ACP Kauba said police would talk to the people and arrest those involved in the criminal activities.
He said police would not allow the offenders to roam freely in the district and cause further problems.
Meanwhile, ACP Kauba has given orders to his provincial police commander in Enga to deploy more policemen to Laiagam and arrest the villagers who attacked his policemen and damaged three of their vehicles last Wednesday.
He appealed to the community leaders to hand over the suspects to the police.
He said that after two weeks, if the village leaders were reluctant to cooperate with the police, they would move in by force and arrest them.
ACP Kauba said those involved in the attack must face justice and he urged the community leaders not to hide them.
