POLICE in National Capital District will start their Christmas and New Year operation next week, according to Met Supt Perou N’dranou, pictured.
He told The National that the festive session operation should have started this week but had to be deferred because officers would be engaged in providing security during the Oceania Cup Pacific Test between the Great Britain Lions and the PNG Kumuls in Port Moresby on Saturday.
He said police would be providing security outside the stadium.
He hopes that everyone in the city will maintain law and order as the city is expected to be full.
“We should have a briefing this week on the operation but we got delayed because our zone commanders are planning their operation for the game this weekend,” he said. “I hope we will meet next week with all our section heads, zone commanders and the police station commanders to draw up our operational plan for the festive season.”
On Saturday, security will be provided inside the stadium and outside.
