UNITS from the National Capital District police command have farewelled the longest-serving metropolitan commander Chief Supt Perou N’dranou who will take up his new post in New Ireland soon.
NCD public safety, K9, CID, SSD and civilians in the NCD command marched in a farewell parade for Met Supt N’dranou.
He handed the Met Supt’s role to Supt Gideon Ikumu, who was the New Ireland commander.
Chief Supt N’dranou served the NCD command for four years, the longest any Met Supt has served, and served with distinction and continued to uphold policing in the command, said Assistant Commissioner of Police NCD/Central command Anthony Wagambie Jr during the parade.
Supt Ikumu said the work he inherited from Chief Supt N’dranou was huge but he would work with his officers to ensure that work was continued and more plans were implemented.
“I would like to thank the outgoing Met Supt, the work you have done can be seen, it is big shoes to fill and I will take up the challenge,” he said.
Chief Supt N’dranou said: “I am humbled by the send-off, but I am leaving a satisfied man, and I have gained so much experience within this four years I have served.”
