Police waiting for report of attempt to kidnap girl

POLICE are yet to receive a report on the teenage girl reported to have been kidnapped in Port Moresby.
Assistant Police Commissioner Donald Yamasombi, the commander for the National Capital District and Central, said they only read about the alleged incident on social media.
“I have no reports of that incident (or any other incidents),” he said.
There have been reports on social media of other kidnapping cases.
“We do receive reports of missing persons and they are being dealt with at the police stations,” he said.
He said police had special units dealing with sexual offences, armed robbery and homicide.
“And if someone is kidnapped for sexual motives, the sexual offence squad will investigate,” he said.
“And if kidnapped for ransom, we have the armed robbery or homicide squads to investigate.”
Meanwhile, another 16-year-old girl who claimed to have been kidnapped at 4-Mile by four men said she had lodged a complaint at the Boroko police station.
She posted on Facebook that she managed to escape from four men who she believed would have raped and killed her.
