POLICE in East Sepik have assured the people of Yangoru-Saussia that their MP and Governor Peter Wararu was not facing arrest.
Provincial police commander Snr Insp Vincent Pokas said this yesterday after a police team from Port Moresby arrived in the province to investigate matters against Waruru.
He said police only wanted to talk to him about a pending matter in which he was the complainant.
Pokas said Wararu had an overdue complaint against a Peter Kendino which was lodged on the eve of the 2007 elections.
He said Kendino had gone to East New Britain and registered a separate complaint of attempted murder against Waruru.
He said Wararu was the first to report the damage caused to his vehicle when he was allegedly  attacked by Kendino and his accomplices along the Sepik Highway.
