GULF provincial police commander Lincoln Gerari is taking a tough stand on police officers who report to duty drunk and unlawfully discharge firearms. “It’s dangerous behaviour – police officers drunk and in possession of firearms dangerous behaviour,” Gerari said. He was responding to an incident on Tuesday involving a police officer in Kerema who was reportedly drunk and fired a gun to disperse a crowd. A man was allegedly injured by a stray bullet. “If you are drunk, don’t come to work and use firearms. Officers can face serious consequences.”
