Policeman to appear in court

 A SENIOR police officer in East New Britain who was sidelined over his alleged involvement in a drug-related case will appear in court later this month.

The officer had been in charge of the police post at the Tokua Airport when the alleged incident occurred in May.

The officer was suspended for 21 days pending investigation into the discovery and confiscation of a parcel of marijuana via Travel Air.

The parcel weighed 11kg, with a street value of about K60,000. 

The airline company confiscated the consignment and alerted police. 

Police in East New Britain have stepped up investigations into drug traffickiing since May.
