THE Goroka Committal Court found enough evidence against two policemen on an assault charge to commit them for trial in the national court.
The date of the trial is yet to be set.
Senior Magistrate Raphael Appa said there were sufficient evidence against Daniel Najike and Naeo Gips Kipanu.
Najike, 27, from Upegu in Ungai- Bena district, and Kipanu, 50, from Finintugu in Henganofi district  in Eastern Highlands, were based at the  Henganofi district office when they claimed that Henganofi Secondary School teacher Jonathan Manup had an affair with Kipanu’s adopted daughter, a Grade 12 student.
The officers armed with guns entered the school grounds and assaulted Manup on Aug 30, last year.
Manup sustained serious facial and body injuries and was taken to the hospital. He reported the matter to police who arrested and detained the two officers.
Appa, after considering submissions from the defence and prosecution lawyers, found enough evidence to commit the case to the national court.
