Policy drafted to promote investment growth

THE PNG Securities Commission (Secom) is currently drafting a national investment policy to define the country’s investment proposal climate until 2050, says executive chairman Christopher Hnanguie.
He told The National yesterday that it would be about promoting investment growth and diversification for socio-economic transformation.
“It is aligned with the PNG Vision 2050 and the medium-term development plan III (MTDP III).
“We want to now collate everything. Public investment and private investment have to work in one framework so that we can accomplish a bigger set of results.
“If we have public investment going one way, and private investment going the other, it will be hard to realise the outcome.
“This policy will work in a way that it brings those two together.”
Hnanguie also said the policy would look at streamlining investment into the country.
