Polio treatment in Port Moresby

Letters

AFTER the reporting of the first polio case in Port Moresby residents are now in panic.
There is a rush to get immunised, not just the children five years and under, but adults too.
Medically unqualified people are sending out emails to all their contacts urging them to get immunised. My question to the medical
professionals in the Health Department is this: What about the immunisation shots that were given when we were babies?
If we got the shots then, should we be worrying about getting vaccination or a booster now?
Private clinics are now cashing in on the polio panic and charging exorbitant prices. Maybe all we need to do is wash our hands thoroughly after using the toilet and ensure that we only use Eda Ranu tap water for drinking, cooking and washing.
