REGISTRAR of Political Parties Dr Alphonse Gelu has told political parties that they have to start thinking about the 2022 general election and in particular about who they will be endorsing.
“This is the start for us and all other stakeholders to engage with political parties in preparation for 2022,’ he said.
“There is a need for you (political parties) to endorse and look at candidates, some of the parties have already received files of candidates seeking endorsement.”
“This workshop is all about allowing stakeholders to share the work they have done on administration of the election and what they have been doing in terms of involving women in 2022.”
Gelu said this at a two-day workshop on learning and development held at the Registry of Political Parties Office in Port Moresby.
He said parties needed to start promoting their policies and confirming their candidates.
“You have to start thinking about supporting women candidates, and contribute to making the process free and fair in 2022.”
