POLLING for the local level government (LLG) elections in Manus progressed well into its third day yesterday despite people complaining that their names were not on the common rolls.

Provincial election manager Pakop Posangat said yesterday that polling began in the 11 LLGs of Aua-Wuvulu, Bisakani-Soparibeu, PNKA, Lorengau Urban, Lelemadih-Bupichupeu, Los Negros, Penabu Nali Sopat, Tetidu, Pobuma, Balopa and Rapatona on Saturday.

Polling in the Nigoherm LLG only began yesterday at Luf Island after assistant returning officers and his polling team had their deployment delayed over the weekend.

Posangat said 16 ward council seats were unopposed and declarations of the winning candidates were conducted during close of nominations when the order of draw was conducted.

He said from the 16 unopposed seats, two wards were in Aua-Wuvulu, three wards each in PNKA and Lelemadih-Bupichupeu, five wards each in Penabu Nali Sopat, and one ward each in Pobuma, Balopa and Rapatona.

He added that service providers had approached him with their complaints but he was trying his best to deal with their issues.

Polling began on July 6 and will end on Aug 9.
