LISA Polum sealed a 2-1 win for the Bears as they ended the Wantoks chances of tasting grand finals in the semi-finals of the Port Moresby Women’s Softball on Saturday.

The first two innings of the A grade semi-final saw neither side scoring a run.

The pitchers from both sides, Ellie Arek of Wantoks and Quandalym Vinim of Bears showed some class pitching to stop the opposition batters from hitting or striking out.

In the fourth and the fifth innings, Vinim played under pressure but kept up fast and straight pitching.

It was the sixth inning that stunned the crowd. With the 1-1 tie, Bears enforcer Polum ran home to take her team to the grand finals when a fellow team mate topped the ball away, making way for Polum to score.

Bears won 2-1 and will face defending champions United Sisters next weekend in the grand finals.
