Polye slams lack of financial literacy for women entrepreneurs

OPPOSITION Leader Don Polye says there is lack of financial literacy skills and that economic growth does not trickle down for women entrepreneurs.
He said that at the PNG Women’s Forum on Thursday in Port Moresby.
Polye took the backstage and listened to presentations.
He was pleased to learn about experiences and challenges that women entrepreneurs enduredquietlyin business.
“Our alternative government is a proud supporter of women in business and politics,” Polye said.
“We would like to see our women become millionaires and politicians in the 2017 general election,” he said.
He queried whether companies had programmes to address challenges faced by women entrepreneurs.
Polye urged the participants to develop a savings culture to change their traditional landscape of participating in small to medium enterprises.
“You have to learn to develop a savings culture so that every toea earned is wisely spent,” he said. You have to be strict on social obligations like bride price and other aspects.”
