POM city not as clean as it seems
The National, Thursday March 27th, 2014
THE popular saying, “Do not judge a book by its cover” can be best used for the city of Port Moresby to many visitors.
When you visit Port Moresby, do not judge it by what you see from the Jacksons International Airport via the freeway towards Downtown.
The beauty created by the National Capital District Commission is eye-catching along this short journey.
However, it is only a disguise.
Visit suburbs and settlements such as Gerehu, Hohola, Badili, Sabama, Gordons, Erima, Two-Mile Hill and you will come to know the real Port Moresby.
It is not a clean city as one may imagine upon arrival at the airport.
In fact, Port Moresby can be described as probably the filthiest city in the world.
So, please let us not pretend but be honest with ourselves.
Let us create positive attitudes and help improve the image of our city.
We can make a start by cleaning and beautifying our residential areas.
