Pom cricket to see last round of games

Normal, Sports

FOR the Port Moresby cricket competition, this week will see the last of the normal rounds before the finals kick off for B Grade, U19, U16 and the women’s divisions next week.
The finals for these grades will start next weekend while the A Grade and A Reserve have two more rounds before their finals are held.
Unfortunately, work on the new pitch at the outer Hubert Murray Stadium started yesterday so it is not going to be ready this weekend.
It will definitely be ready for next weekend’s matches.
The fixtures and grounds committee member for Port Moresby Cricket Association, Paul Joseph, said yesterday that with the season drawing to a close and with teams vying for the finals, there had already been a couple of reported incidents of unsportsmanlike behaviour by teams.
“The penalty guidelines from Cricket PNG sent to all their affiliates should be a timely reminder to all players, supporters and clubs that misconduct will not be tolerated and the PMCA board will not hesitate to apply these penalties to anyone found guilty of such misconduct.”
Meanwhile, this weekend’s A grade games at Amini Park will see Pacific MMI Taora take on Coasters tomorrow while the Chilli Sounds Raukele clash with BNG Poreporena on Sunday in what is expected to be a tough and exciting match.
