POM Hockey names squads

THE PORT Moresby Hockey Association will be sending two senior teams to the 2013 National Hockey Championships in Madang. 

The championships are from June 6-9. Port Moresby Hockey Association secretary, Caroline Kahai said: “The association has selected mixed team of seniors and upcoming development players which is part of the association’s capacity building for the junior talent identification programme.”

At the Madang championships, selectors will select a train-on squad for the 2015 Pacific Games under the guidance of Gill Gemming, a New Zealand-based Oceania Hockey development officer. 

Prior to the championship, Gemming will also conduct a clinic to assist technical officials in both umpiring and the technical bench.

Kahai said with limited time, the association was on a fundraising drive to help send the teams to Madang..

Training for the squad is at 4.30 on Tuesday and Thursday at the Sir John Guise Stadium.
