POM Soccer fields K50,000 from North East MP

 VICE Minister for Sports, responsible for soccer and rugby league, Labi Amaiu honoured his commitment by presenting K50,000 to the Port Moresby Soccer Association (PMSA) yesterday.

Amaiu said the money was pledged during the official launching of Super League season, and the ceremony yesterday was the fulfillment of that commitment.

He said the city’s major soccer competition was played in his electorate and he compelled to support the association. 

Amaiu made similar a presentation to the Port Moresby Rugby Football League (K50,000) and the Port Moresby Softball League (K20,000).

Port Moresby Soccer recently  received K25,000 from National Capital District Governor Powes Parkop while Sports Minister Justin Tkatenckho also donated K50,000 under his Sports Enhancement Programme funding.

Amaiu (pictured) commended Port Moresby Soccer Association for continuing to provide a quality competition which produced players who would go on to represent the country.

Amaiu, who is the member for Moresby North East said he would conitue his assistance to Port Moresby Soccer Association with an ey to making it the best in the country.

President of PMSA John Gonjuan Wesley thanked the Amaiu for his sponsorship and patronage saying the help would go towards the administration, and the preparation for the 2015 Pacific Games.

Bisini Oval will be one of the venues for the football competition during the 2015 Games, and Wesley was pleased that the financial support came at the right time.

Amaiu on Monday did a similar presentation to Port Moresby Suburban Rugby League Association with K40,000. 

The money would go towards preparing the team for the upcoming Southern Zone rugby league trials at Kwikila station this weekend.

President of the Port Moresby Suburban Rugby League Association Billy Aki thanked Amaiu saying the money would be put in good use to support the team.

Amaiu said he supported POM Suburban because a lot of his players in his electorate were taking part in this off-season competition.

Aki commended Amaiu for his continued support to young sports men and women in the NCD especially his youths from Moresby North East electorate.
