FOLLOWING the conclusion of their Corporate Slow Pitch competition, the Port Moresby Women’s Softball Association has drafted its preseason to start next month, according to an official.
POMWSA president Ian Soweni said an annual general meeting would be held to confirm the dates.
“At this stage our preseason may start in September after Independence,” Soweni told The National yesterday.
Soweni said the proposed AGM was initially planned for July however this was postponed due to the slow pitch competition and the general elections.
“We could not set the dates and prepare for AGM as well because the slow pitch was still on,” the president said.
“Also with election activities and violence, we did not call for the meeting.”
Soweni said the AGM would be hosted after the completion of the elections. The outcome of the AGM will determine the POM WSA preseason as well as the calendar of events for the remainder of 2022.
“Once we have the AGM then we will know other details for the preseason,” Soweni said.
“The AGM will cover our calendar for 2022-2023.
“Not sure if there will be any national competition as there is nothing from the national federation.
“Also we will review our finances and success of the Corporate Slow Pitch competition.
“We will this week send out forms to the corporate companies to have their say on competition.
“So basically without a national calendar we can only present our PMWSA calendar and get all the teams to register and we see what sort of competition we can organise for 2022-2023,” Soweni said this week.
