PORT Moresby Australian Football League is to make a decision tomorrow about whether it should complete the 2021 season amid the surge in Coronavirus (Covid-19) cases nationwide.
League president Doug Lai told The National yesterday that a decision was supposed to be made on Friday, but all the clubs — barring one — did not give their final opinion.
He said the Office of the National Pandemic Response Controller had given approval for the resumption of the competition.
Despite the approval, Lai said some clubs, sponsors and the organisers had mixed feelings about whether the season should continue.
“During our meeting last Wednesday, all clubs had agreed that they would email us their opinion about whether to complete the season,” he said.
“However, we didn’t receive any emails on Friday except for one club.
“So we have given them until Wednesday this week to send in their opinions as agreed last week.”
Lai said he was more concerned about the reputation and future of the competition.
