WARANGOI High School, in the Sinivit local level government, in Pomio, has received 20 new computer sets and six tuffa tanks, all costing K226,000.

Pomio MP Paul Tiensten visited the school last week to hand over the items.

The computers were installed by a local technology company in Kokopo – Leeds Investment and cost K183,000. The tanks cost K43,000.

He gave a 10-seater vehicle to police at the Warangoi rural police station costing K114,000.

He said it was vital for the school to be on par with the advancement of technology worldwide to access vital information.

“Students must be computer literate and so must be enhanced in their learning to proceed to further studies,” Tiensten said.

“It is very hard for me to micro manage and look at your respective needs. So whatever needs you have, please push it through to the ward level and to the LLG and then on to the JDPBPC where a final decision will be made.”

Tiensten said the Government had a lot of money accumulated by the Somare government. Each district gets K10 million each annually for the district services improvement programme.

“In Pomio, this funding must be shared according to plans at the ward levels and LLGs so we achieve our development visions,” he said.

“In five years, the K10 million will total K50 million – it will depend on the people to identify their needs so that we put this money to good use,” he said.
