COUNTING for presidential seats in three local level government wards in Pomio district starts on Monday.

East New Britain election manager Joab Voivoi yesterday said most polling officers would be travelling to Pomio tomorrow and Sunday as counting would begin on Monday for Melkoi, West Pomio/Mamusi and Central Inland Pomio.

He said while counting had been completed in most LLGs in the Gazelle Peninsula, Pomio was delayed because of strong winds.

He said so far LLGs that had declared their presidents were Balanataman, Kombiu, Rabaul Urban, Watom in Rabaul district, Duke of York, Kokopo Urban, Raluana in Kokopo district, Toma Vunadidir, Lassul Baining in Gazelle district and Sinivit and East Pomio in Pomio district.

Voivoi said those that were still to complete counting and declaration included Bitapaka in Kokopo district, Central Gazelle, Livuan/Reimber, Inland Baining in Gazelle district and Melkoi, West Pomio/Mamusi, Central Inland Pomio in Pomio district.

He was happy at the way elections were running in the province, describing it as being on track despite minor hiccups of people complaining that their names were not on the common roll.
