Pomis stun Joeys
The National, Wednesday 28th November, 2012
PORT Moresby International thumped St Joseph’s International 5-0 in the top of the table schoolboys under 14 rugby game at Bava park last Saturday.
With finals coming up this weekend, both teams battled hard to make sure they gained spots.
It was an even contest in the first half with neither side able to make any breaks.
Joeys, led by five-eighth Darren Eliakim and backliners Clyde Rapilla, Waisali Yalo and Goasa Damena, withstood the Pomis attack to keep the score nil all at half time.
However, Pomis launched their offensive after the break with the heavier forward pack and the Joeys defensive line crumbled allowing the only try of the match.
In the other match, Boroko Primary drew with Pom Grammar 5-5.
In the U17 boys matches, Pomis beat Salvation Army 12-0 and Joeys drew with Pom Grammar 12-12.
In the girls’ matches, Pomis defeated Pom Grammar 12-7 and St Josephs beat Caritas 28-10.
