HOHOLA Flies will aim to make their second chance count when the A-grade minor premiers kick off week two of the Port Moresby Rugby Football League finals against Kone Storm at 2pm tomorrow.
Flies suffered a 12-14 loss to Tarangau on Tuesday, but they get a second chance against Storm, who boast imposing front-rower James Kore and former SP Hunter Silas Gahuna.
The Flies backline will be a handful for Storm with fullback Darren Anabe and hooker Tara Wayabi expected to be instrumental in attack.
The second match on Sunday will see Dobo Warriors get a second chance against Souths after they lost 4-6 to Brothers at the Oil Search National Football Stadium on Tuesday.
Dobo will be counting on former PNG Kumul and one-time Hunter Adam Korave for a strong start up the middle against William Mone-led Souths.
Meanwhile, Tarangau and Brothers have the weekend off as they await the winners for next weekend’s preliminary finals.
The women’s division will see the major semifinal between Paga Panthers and Hanuabada Hawks with the winner to progress to the grand final.
Royals and Sisters will meet in the minor semifinal with the winner to play loser of the Paga-Hawks match.
League administrator Meke Maino said earlier this week that the finals schedule remained the same with the competition only two weeks away from the grand finals in all divisions.
“It has been a short season with the Coronavirus (Covid-19) affecting matches,” he said.
“But we are thrilled to see out the 2021 season before the end of the year.”
