MEMBERS of the Catholic Church in the Anglimp-South Waghi electorate, of Jiwaka, are preparing for a visit of an ambassador of Pope Francis next month.

The Papal Nucor will visit the Kuli parish next month. More than 15,000 people from Kuli and Anglimp are cleaning up the 13 km road which he will travel at Kurki.

Work include planting of flowers and digging of drains on the roadside.

Other church denominations are helping in the preparations.

Jerry Mangum, from the Bomana Seminarian, who is a local from Kuli, said this would be the highlands region’s biggest celebration.

“It is the privilege of the Christians, especially the Catholics, to host a representative of Pope Francis,” he said.

“We are preparing to receive him. We are making everything possible so that this event will touch the lives of many Christians. The Papal Nucor’s visit is to help us maintain our faith in Christ Jesus.”

He said times were changing and the level of Christian faith must move to the next level.

Mangum said others Christian denominations were supporting the Catholics preparition.
