Popondetta soccer loaded with teams

 THE Popondetta Urban Soccer Association competition is in its crucial stages with participating teams vying for the finals spots.

The PUSA match committee chairman Mackenzie Ihari said there are 10 teams in the premier men’s division while the women’s division has 13 and the premier reserve and Under-19 with 10 teams each.

Ihari said in the premier men’s competition, Oro United, New Guinea Compound Settlers, Galea, Asum, Kaks and BFC have occupied the top half of the table while Tarangau, Goruta, North East and Blue Kumuls have not be far off the pace.

For the women, Kapits, Martyrs, Saints, Kaks, Settlers, Blue Kumuls, Oro United, Bagas, North East, Goruta, Tarangau, OBS and Nakemo are vying for the title.

Ihari said the competition produced some good players and exposed a lot of raw talent which boded well for Oro soccer.

Association president Michael Ofare said the improving standard would ensure that the Oro franchise in the National Soccer League would have a pool of players to choose from.

The association has imposed a club affiliation fee of K900 and a players’ registration of K15 while the match fee is K10. 

All affiliation and player’s registration should be paid this week before games.
