THE Progera Development Authority appreciates the support of Porgera Joint Venture which helps it provide services to the people.
It is a Special Purposes Authority established under the Local Level Governments Administration Act 1997 to work in partnership with Porgera and Paiela LLGs in implementing national development policies.
The authority is to manage and expand funds derived from Porgera Gold Mine and other sources for various projects identified by the Authority under the various agreements including the Porgera Gold Mining Memorandum of Agreement.
The board of management has condemned former chief executive officer John Miukin for making public statements against Barrick Niugini Limited.
He said the board “lawfully terminated the employment of the purported and self-promoted chief executive officer of PDA John Miukin as of July 27, when it sees that his services were no longer needed”.
“Hence, he was no longer an employee of PDA as from July 27,” it said in a statement.
It said the chairman and the board condemned the statement made by the terminated employee in a rally in Porgera, which criticed Enga Governor Sir Peter Ipatas and valuable corporate citizen Barrick Porgera Joint Venture for not supporting PDA fiancially.
